Well, the highlight of my weekend was that I ran my cell phone through the washing machine. Yippee. Now, I get to shop for a new one. ;-(

Help Get Battery Published
Oct. 22nd, 2008 | 07:15 pm
Well, I submitted Battery to WeBook for publication. It's similar to the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. The readers vote on what should be published. Voting runs from 11/4 to 11/14. So I'm asking friends to give it a read and to vote. Here's the link:
http://www.webook.com/project/Battery
The nice thing about this contest is that the entire novel is available. So if you read the first three chapters during ABNA voting, now is your chance to see how it turns out. Please pass this along to anyone who might be interested.

Rules: Comment on this post and I'll give you a band. Don't worry, I'll try to make it one you know and love. List your ten favorite songs by that band on your LJ and in reply to the comment, challenge others to do the same.
libgirl assigned me Miles Davis and Rush. I couldn't get the Rush list down to ten as much as I tried.
Miles Davis
Round Midnight -- Miles and Thelonious Monk
So What
Freddie Freeloader
All Blues
E.S.P. -- How can you go wrong when you have Miles with Wayne Shorter (sax), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass) and Tony Williams (drums)?
Eighty-One
Bitches Brew -- The beginning of jazz fusion
Tutu
Splatch
A Perfect Way -- Turning a contemporary pop tune by Scritti Politti into a jazz standard
Don't Lose Your Mind
Full Nelson
Rush
A Farewell to Kings -- One of the first rock songs I learned. I was exciting actually discover what was going on in the song.
The Trees
La Villa Strangiato
YYZ
Xanadu
Animate
Double Agent -- "Where would you rather be/Anywhere, anywhere but here."
Subdivisions
Territories
The Spirit of Radio
Natural Science
The Pass

Alexander Technique
Sep. 27th, 2008 | 12:48 pm
Anybody have any experience with the Alexander Technique? I'm looking into taking some sessions to help me with my guitar playing and my carpal tunnel.

Letter Meme

Rules:
- Post a Comment and I'll randomly assign you a letter (A - Z in the English Alphabet);
- Then you have to respond by listing ten things you LOVE that begin with that letter.
- Afterward, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.
I was assigned the letter G:
This was almost too easy.
1. Guitars -- I love them all and wish I had more.
2. Gibson -- They make great guitars like the Les Paul, SG, Explorer, and Humming Bird.
3. Guild -- I have a Guild bass and a Guild acoustic guitar.
4. Gillian Anderson (as Scully) -- She has to have the red hair.
5. "Giant Steps" by John Coltrane -- Trane was an amazing talent and by far my favorite sax player.
6. Graeter's Ice Cream -- A local ice cream, like Ben and Jerry's but with more fat and add-ins.
7. Gerard DePardieu -- Fabulous in Cyrano and Green Card.
8. Granola (the cereal and Opus's girlfriend Lola Granola)
9. Grover -- Yes, the muppet. He's a comic genius... and cute too.
10. Greg Allman's brother Duane -- That may be cheating, but he's the best slide guitarist I've ever heard.
